Grenada Carnival

The Carnival is 2 days. However, there were a variety of competitions leading up to the two days of parades. Competitions for the best in Soca, Steel Band music (Pan) and Calypso were held Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings. The Pan competition was incredible. Carnival then comprised three parades First Jouvert (started before dawn on Monday) then Monday Night Mas and finally the main parade on Tuesday. We have divided the photos for the Monday afternoon and Tuesday afternoon parades into kids and adults. This was a real participation event for the entire population of the island. Thanks Grenada.

Yellow Mas Group

This is the Night-time parade. Anyone can join a Mas and parade as a group. You buy a Mas kit that might include a T-shirt, hat, glow stick or something to shake, and a small bottle of rum. Then you report to your group and march with them. At the front of each group, is a flatbed truck with speakers and a DJ. The music for the Mas is blasted from there. Each group has its own banner detailing the sponsors for the group.
